Thinking Spring!

Han pasado muchos días desde que escribí algo aquí en mi blog. Hoy vengo con un nuevo post, me ha costado acercarme a mi computadora y sentarme por un largo tiempo y decidirme a escribir algo nuevo.

El duro invierno sigue aqíi en Canadá, no hay señales de que la primavera venga pronto, hay viento, lluvia, tuvimos una mega tormenta de nieve la semana pasada y ahora hay viento y lluvia-nieve.

Yo para no perder la cordura sigo cosiendo ropa, mia y de los niños. Gaby ha estado en San Francisco estos días y regresa hoy con su papá. Gaby tuvo entrevista en el colegio donde irá el próximo otoño y también había que arreglar otras cositas para nuestra mudanza en el verano, estoy ya emocionada y al mismo tiempo nostálgica especialmente porque dejaré a buenos amigos aqui y especialmente al abuelo Thomas y Astrid quienes han sido una gran compañia y apoyo en todos los sentidos desde que nos movimos a Canadá, pero yo sé que pronto nos veremos otra vez y a lo mejor un día volvemos a ser vecinos, ojalá!!!

I haven’t write anything here in my blog for a long time now, today I have a new post, and it is hard for me to sit down for long in front of my computer and write about something new.

The harsh winter is still here in Canada, no signs of spring coming anytime soon, there’s wind, rain, and we had a mega snow storm last week and now there’s wind and rain-flurries and snow melting away.

So I keep on sewing so I don’t go crazy, clothes for me and for the kids. Gaby has been in San Francisco for a few days and gets back today with her papá. She had two interviews at the school we are planning to send her in the fall and there were other things that had to be done before our big moving day this summer, I’m excited and a bit nostalgic too, specially because good friends are here and Grandpa Thomas and Astrid, two people that have been a huge support for us in every way since we came to Canada, but I know that we will see them soon and maybe one day we end up being neighbors again, I do hope!

 

Hice estas dos camisas para Basti hace dos dias. Me he estado levantando a las cinco de la mañana todos los días para poder coser en paz sin interrupciones y avanzar en proyectos que desde hace mucho he querido hacer. Las camisas para Basti son el proyecto de costura mas fácil que he hecho en mi vida, en cuestion de una hora habia terminado una camisa, así que por que no dos, ya estoy pensando en la tercera y cuarta. La tela es de Birch y la colección Camp Sur. El patrón es de este libro.

I made this two shirts for Basti two days ago. I have been waking up at five every day for a few days now, so I can sew in peace and no interruptions at all and that way I can finish or start sewing projects that I have had in mind for a while. The shirts I made for Basti are the easiest sewing projects I’ve made in my life, in a matter of one hour I finished one, so why not a second shirt, I’m already nesting the idea of a third one or fourth. The fabric is from BIRCH and their collection CAMP SUR, I got it at my local fabric store in town The Greewood Quiltery. The pattern is from this book.

Me ha entrado la fiebre de hacer camisetas para los niños ultimamente y descubrí gracias al blog Cirque Du Bebe unos buenos tips de como hacer impresiones digitales en tela y de donde conseguir las ilustraciones. Es una maravilla cuando uno puede hacer este tipo de cosas en tan poco tiempo y con tan buenos resultados. La tela que use para esta camiseta es un Knit o persa-jersey como decimos en español que es orgánica, la compre en The Greenwood Quiltery y la tienen en varios tonos. La impresión la compre de una tienda en linea en Etsy de Madame Bricolage, gracias a Ana por enviarme los archivos tan rapido y ser tan atenta.

Hice una falda short para el viaje a San Francisco de Gaby, es fondo gris con lunares blancos. La Tela es de Lotta Jansdotter de la colección Bella. Compre la tela en la tienda Alewives ellos tienen una infinita variedad en telas a muy buenos precios.

También le hice la chaqueta en mostaza, pero creo que la hice muy pequeña, la hice para una niña de cuatro años y Gaby tiene cinco ya y parece que creció y no me di cuenta, yo h estado haciéndole ropa todo este tiempo una talla menos pensando que sigue pequeñita. Tengo varias piezas de ropa que he hecho para mi y no saben lo bonitas que me han quedado pero tengo que esperar a que mi amado esposo me tome las fotitos y las pueda modelar, ademas necesito un corte de  pelo urgente parezco la ermitaña de Guelph!!! Pondré pronto imágenes mias con mi nuevo vestuario para mis vacaciones en el trópico con los niños! I just got the fever of making t-shirts for the kids and printing something on them and it was thanks to this blog Cirque du Bebe and she gives very nice tips of how to do digital impressions on fabric with some vintage illustrations. It is amazing when one can make pretty things like this in so little time and getting good results. The fabric I used is an organic knit that I bought at The Greenwood Quiltery and they have it in other nice colours. The images on the t-shirt I got them online from this Etsy shop Madame Bricolage, thank you Anna for sending me the files so quick and for being so nice!

I made a “skort” for Gaby’s San Francisco trip, it has some grey and white polka dots. The fabric is from Lotta Jansdotter from her collection BELLA. I bought this fabric from Alewives, they have an huge variety of fabrics and very good prices.

The mostard Jacket I made for Gaby turned out to be a little bit too small for her. It is a size four and she’s five, I don’t know why I keep making things a year younger than her, I guess I forget how big she’s getting. I have a few pieces of clothes that I’ve made for myself but I need my lovely husband to take pictures of me wearing them, besides I need a haircut very urgent, I look like the hermit of Guelph! I will post some pictures of myself with my new outfit that I will wear in my vacations in the tropics with the kids!
